SHOOTERS PROJECT

'Shooters' is the Filmaking arm of the Organisation.

Over the past 5 years we have made over 40 short films with groups and communities of Young People from all backgrounds and cultures. We have worked with over 400 Young People from 27 different nationalities.

We give a basic training in Filmaking and Digital Technology then encourage the young people to choose an isssue that is important to them and express their thoughts and ideas through the medium of film. The youngsters are responsible for the acting, directing, shooting , recording and editing of their work, the Shooters Team are merely there to 'Mentor' the participants.

Over the years we have covered such issues as Bullying, Alcoholism, Drug Addiction,Loneliness, Lack of Privacy or simply a film about the community the young people live in.The Shooters Team are currently working with the pupils of St Margarets School,North Lanarkshire on a film about 'Knife Crime'.

During the course of the projects we arrange classes with professionals covering issues such as Sexual Health, Drug Addiction, Alcohol Awareness and Social Responsibility.

Each participant will experience Team Work,Decision Making,Confidence Building, Creative Thinking and Problem Solving.

We give each Young Person a Spirit Aid Award, a Certificate and a DVD of the film.We give a public screening of all films to which we invite anyone involved in the young people's lives from parents to teachers, Police Officers to Social Workers.

Commissions for Shooters Films have come from Strathclyde Fire Service, The Prince's Trust, North Glasgow Safety Forum and several Scottish Schools. We are currently in negotiation with Glasgow Community and Safety Services with a view to producing films for them.

In our humanitarian projects abroad, young people in Malawi and the Squatter Camps of South Africa have made films about Aids/Hiv.
